Preparing for Your Dysport Treatments

At our practice, we want to ensure you have all the information you need before proceeding with treatments. During your consultation, we will discuss your concerns and expectations and which product may suit you. We also prepare you for the treatment so you know what to expect. 

Dysport is administered using a small needle that most people can tolerate well. Numbing cream can be used to reduce sensation during injections. A small amount of medication is injected into specific points marked before treatments. 

Following treatment, you may have some swelling at the injection site, which fades quickly. Injection sites can bruise, but we will provide instructions at your consultation for minimizing bruising. You can return to work or any other activity immediately after treatments. 

Dysport vs Botox: Is There a Difference?

While Dysport and Botox have the same active ingredient, these products are different and cannot be used interchangeably. We offer both at our practice because each serves a unique purpose and can be ideal for other patients. Some of the key differences between these products include:

• Dilution: One of the most significant differences between Dysport and Botox is dilution. Dysport is approximately three times more diluted than Botox. This can offer several benefits, including customization and even distribution, making it the right choice for some patients. 
• Molecular Size: Dysport has a smaller molecular size and weight, allowing it to be distributed through the treatment area faster and further. Using a different product can offer advantages for certain patients that may not be achievable. 
• Result Onset: Dysport may have a slightly faster onset than Botox because of its dilution and molecular structure.
• Result Duration: Duration results can vary depending on the patient, the area treated, and the frequency of treatments. However, Botox may last slightly longer than Dysport in some patients.
