Laser Hair Removal

Sciton Broad Band Light and 1064nm Laser Hair Removal

If you are sick of wasting your time shaving, tweezing, and waxing your unwanted hair, not to mention the unsightly razor bumps that are often the result of ineffective hair removal, Sciton BBL and laser hair removal are the most effective choice for permanent hair reduction.

Both Sciton BBL and laser utilize light energy which is selectively absorbed by the melanin in your hair follicles and converted to heat, diffusing to and injuring stem cells in the bulb and bulge. Effective hair reduction can only be achieved during the active growth phase and hair reduction is considered permanent when a significant amount of your hair does not return for a period of time longer than the complete growth cycle.

After a series of treatments, most of your hair will be permanently removed. However, if your hair does regrow it will be finer and lighter than before. Because we offer both Sciton BBL and Laser options, we can treat all skin types!

What it Treats:

Any dark colored unwanted hair. (It is not effective for blond or white hair.) Madison Medispa offers packages for lip, chin, beard, neck, chest, back, arms, legs, and bikini, including Brazilian treatments.

Procedure Time:

Approximately 15-120 minutes.

Typical Recovery Time and Side Effects:

Minimal to none.

Results:

Laser hair removal is only effective if it is done as a series of treatments. This is because hair growth takes place in 3 stages, and treatment is only effective during the stage of active growth. Furthermore, not all hairs will be in the same stage of growth at the same time. Most patients will require a series of 4-8 treatments performed approximately every 6-weeks. Once you have completed your treatment series, most hair will be completely gone, and any hair remaining will be much finer and lighter than what you began with.

How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?

How much hair you have depends on how many hairs are in their active growth cycle and how long that cycle lasts. Hair revolves through three phases of growth: Anagen, Catagen, and Telogen. Only hairs in the Anagen phase can be treated with laser hair removal devices.

The laser delivers energy into the bulge of the hair which heats and destroys the base of the follicle permanently. A series of treatments are required to account for the fact that hair can only be destroyed in the active growth (Anagen) stage.
