At Madison Medispa in Waunakee, WI, we are passionate about providing our patients with access to the latest wrinkle treatments and other cosmetic services. That is why our office now offers Xeomin cosmetic injectables among our suite of services.
If you have been searching for an effective, FDA-approved treatment to address signs of aging such as fine lines and wrinkles, then Xeomin may be a good fit for your cosmetic goals.
What Are Xeomin Cosmetic Injectables?
Xeomin is a specific formulation of botulinum toxin A cosmetic injectable. It is the third such botulinum toxin A treatment to be approved by the FDA. The other two treatments are Dysport and Botox, which are also widely known in the cosmetic industry.
Like these other two cosmetic treatments, Xeomin is administered via injection during a minimally invasive outpatient procedure. Madison Medispa performs Xeomin injections right here in our Waunakee, WI, office.
Xeomin injections are designed to address “dynamic wrinkles,” which are the wrinkles caused by repetitive facial movements. A few examples include squinting, raising your eyebrows, smiling, laughing, frowning, and crying.
While your skin must move and crease in order to facilitate these movements, the elasticity of your skin diminishes as you age. As a result, the lines created by this repetitive motion become more pronounced.
Xeomin reduces or eliminates the appearance of dynamic wrinkles by targeting the muscles underneath these age lines. The neurotoxin contained in the Xeomin solution immobilizes these muscles so that wrinkles and fine lines are not created when you make various facial expressions.
Over time, the results of the Xeomin cosmetic injectable will begin to fade. When this occurs, the previously immobilized muscles will regain their normal range of motion and function. Fortunately, you can receive additional treatments as the effects wear off.
Is Xeomin the Same as Botox?
While the chemical composition of Botox and Xeomin are quite similar, the substances are not bioidentical.
The main difference is that Xeomin is considered to be a “pure” botulinum toxin A. This means that the Xeomin solution does not contain additional proteins, which can be beneficial for some patients who are having trouble with Botox effects wearing off faster than is typical.
With that being said, both Xeomin and Botox are highly effective cosmetic injectables that can be used to reduce the appearance of fine lines or wrinkles.
If you are considering undergoing a wrinkle treatment, the providers at Madison Medispa can help you decide which of the two substances are the best fit for you. Our clinicians also offer Dysport and Jeuveau, which can be used to treat common signs of aging.
What Is Xeomin Used to Treat?
Much like Botox, Xeomin is primarily used to treat dynamic wrinkles. Xeomin can be administered to many different regions of the face, but it is most commonly used to treat wrinkles in the forehead, glabellar lines, and crow’s feet.
Xeomin is not used to restore volume that may be lost as a result of aging. Instead, dermal fillers can be used to address those types of concerns.
The Wrinkle Treatment Process
The Xeomin wrinkle treatment process is incredibly simple and efficient. However, you will need to complete a consultation if you are a new Madison Medispa patient. This is because our care team needs to review your medical history in order to develop your custom treatment plan.
After the consultation is complete, you can schedule your Xeomin treatment session. The session will last approximately 15 minutes to an hour, depending on how many areas are being treated.
Due to the minimally invasive nature of the treatment, there is no downtime associated with Xeomin injections. You can drive yourself to and from our Waunakee, WI, facility and resume normal activities as soon as the treatment is complete.
Most patients experience peak results approximately three days after the treatment. This is because the neuromodulator will not immobilize the muscles immediately. At Madison Medispa, we strive to provide our patients with conservative treatments that provide a natural look.
However, some patients decide that they want to receive additional units of Xeomin to further treat signs of aging. If you encounter this concern, then you can schedule a touch-up treatment session a few weeks after your initial appointment. During this follow-up, our clinician may be able to administer a few additional units of Xeomin.
How Long Will My Results Last?
While results may vary, the majority of patients experience results that last approximately four to six months when receiving Xeomin injections. When the effects of the Xeomin cosmetic injectables begin to subside, simply schedule another treatment session.
Since Xeomin treatments can be administered quickly and efficiently, our care team can find an appointment that works for your busy schedule. Remember, there is no downtime associated with the treatment, which means that you can receive your Xeomin on your lunch break, before work, or anytime that is best for you.
