Sciton HALO at Madison Medispa

Before & After

Great Results with Minimal Downtime!

Sciton® Halo™ is the 1st and only laser resurfacing treatment that combines non-ablative and ablative wavelengths in a single pass to maximize results and control downtime. Halo gives you the results you want without the downtime you would expect!

Over time, your skin can lose its youthful glow due to sun exposure. Previous lasers couldn’t effectively remove this sun damage because they were either too shallow or went too deep. Halo eliminates years of sun damage by precisely targeting the right depth. Halo restores the luminous glow you had when you were younger. In the past, you had to choose between a procedure that offers really great results but a lengthy recovery, or a procedure with a fast recovery but marginal results. Now with Halo you get the best of both worlds: great results with minimal downtime.

Sciton Halo combines deep dermal rejuvenation with epidermal renewal for a combined synergistic effect you can’t get with any other treatment. Halo creates beautiful results without the downtime of more aggressive laser resurfacing treatments.

What it Treats:

Skin Texture and Tone. Halo™ will help with fine lines and wrinkles, discoloration, sun damage, melasma, pore size, scars (especially acne scars), and elasticity.

Procedure Time:

Approximately 30-120 minutes.

Typical Recovery Time and Side Effects:

Most patients prefer 4-6 days of recovery time prior to returning to work or social engagements.

For the first 1-2 hours following treatment you skin will feel very hot, similar to a bad sunburn. This will quickly diminish to a low-grade feeling of warmth which may last 1-2 weeks. Over the first 1-2 days your skin will appear more red and puffy than normal. By day 3, the redness and swelling will be resolving, but your skin will become very dry and feel a bit rough like sand paper. By the 4th or 5th day, most patients are wearing their normal make up and feel that any residual changes are not notable enough to keep them from resuming their normal daily activities including work.

Sun exposure needs to be avoided in the 2-week period before and after your treatment sessions, and sun sensitivity may last 1-2 months.

Results:

Following a Halo™ treatment, our patients will experience improvements in their overall skin tone and texture, in addition to a reduced appearance of discoloration, fine lines, wrinkles, and pore size. Most patients will also experience a dramatic increase in skin brightness and light reflectivity as well, and this has been termed the “halo glow.” For best results, most patients will do 1-2 Halo™ sessions per year.

How Does Sciton Halo™ work?

The HALO hybrid fractional laser combines ablative and non-ablative wavelengths, both delivered to the same microscopic treatment zone to maximize clinical results and minimize downtimes. HALO is safe and effective, while providing an enhanced patient experience.

The 2940 nm wavelength targets the epidermis or top layer of the skin and is tunable between (20-100um) to precisely vaporize tissue in a controlled manner to address textural issues and pore size.

The 1470 nm wavelength targets the dermis is tunable to (250-700um) to address deeper sun damage, stimulates collagenesis, and other dermal pigmentary issues.

Each wavelength can be tuned independently for precise coverage and depth.

The end result has been compared to aeration of your lawn. Microscopic plugs of old, damaged, unhealthy skin are removed, allowing for new, healthy skin to grow and fill in those areas.

“I really like Dr. Erdman’s approach to the various treatments I have had at his office. He takes the time to explain everything to me, including what has happened to get me to this point, what will happen if I let things go, all the different options I have for treatment, what treatment he would recommend and why, and what to expect after treatment. I really feel like a partner in decision making and never feel rushed or pressured.”
