GLP1 Injections, Supervised by Medical Experts
Wegovy and Zepbound are glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists. GLP-1 is a hormone naturally produced in the intestines after eating, and it plays a crucial role in regulating blood sugar levels. Zepbound also acts on glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP), which can make it slightly more effective in some patients.
How Wegovy and Zepbound Work for Weight Loss:
Several factors are believed to contribute to both medications effectiveness for weight loss.
- Reduced appetite: GLP-1 medication appears to act on the brain’s appetite center, leading to decreased feelings of hunger and increased feelings of fullness or satiety. This can result in reduced food intake and ultimately lead to weight loss.
- Slower stomach emptying: GLP-1 medication can slow down the emptying of the stomach, which may contribute to increased feelings of fullness and reduced food intake.
- Decreased calorie absorption: These drugs may also reduce the absorption of calories from food in the intestines, leading to fewer calories being absorbed by the body.
Wegovy
Originally marketed as Ozempic for Type 2 Diabetics, it was rebranded to Wegovy for weight loss when studies showed that 90% of patients lost 15% or more of their starting body weight. The active ingredient in Wegovy is Semaglutide which is a GLP-1 receptor agonist.
Zepbound
Originally marketed as Monjaro for Type 2 Diabetics, it was rebranded as Zepbound for weight loss when studies showed that 90% of patients lost 20% or more of their starting body weight. The active ingredient in Zepbound is Tirzepatide, a dual action GLP-1 agonist and GIP analog.

Our GLP-1 prescription weight loss program:
Madison Medispa’s weight loss program is run by Dr. Erdman. We begin with a 3-month program of bi-weekly meetings so that we can monitor your progress, make proper medication dosage adjustments, address and resolve any side-effects, and make sure you set up to succeed. After the first 3-months, most of our patients are doing well and have learned how to manage their lifestyle on their medicaiton. At that point, we transition into a more flexible style of management. Patients are still able to schedule appointments with Dr. Erdman any time they have a problem or a question, and he is always available via text message, but most of our patients will elect to do simple medication pick ups to save time and not have to worry about scheduling. Because of our direct management style, our patient have achieved great success and have avoided many of the problems and side effects reported by patients who try to figure things out themselves using one of the online GLP-1 programs.
Why Choose Madison Medispa For Your GLP-1 Weight Loss Treatment:

He will perform your initial consultation, check the appropriate labs, and help you learn how to do the injections.
