What Is Dysport?

Neuromodulators work by interrupting signals between the muscles and the nerves that are telling them to move. After injection, the toxin will eventually wear off and movement in the area will return.

What Is Dysport Used For?

The FDA has approved Dysport for frown lines which makes this one of the most common uses for the medication. • Dilution: One of the biggest differences between Dysport and Botox is dilution. Dysport is approximately three times more diluted than Botox. This can offer several different benefits including customization and more even distribution which can make it the right choice for some patients. 
• Molecular Size: Dysport has a smaller molecular size and weight which can allow it to be distributed through the treatment area faster and further. This can offer advantages for certain patients that may not be achievable by using a different product. 
• Result Onset: Because of its dilution and molecular structure, Dysport may have a slightly faster onset than Botox. 
• Result Duration: Duration results can vary depending on the patient, the area treated, and the frequency of treatments. However, Botox may last slightly longer than Dysport in some patients. 

Preparing for Your Dysport Treatments

At our practice, we want to ensure that you have all of the information you need before proceeding with treatments. During your consultation, we will discuss your concerns, and expectations, and which product may be right for you. We also prepare you for the treatment itself so that you know what to expect. 

Dysport is administered using a small needle that can be tolerated well by most people. Numbing cream can be used to reduce sensation during injections. A small amount of medication is injected into specific points that are marked before treatments. 

Following treatment, you may have some swelling at the injection site which fades quickly. Injection sites can bruise, but we will provide you instructions at your consultation for minimizing bruising. You can return to work or any other activity immediately after treatments. 

How Long Does Dysport Last? 

Dysport can last for up to 5 months after treatment. The duration can sometimes be shorter for first-time patients and longer for patients who frequently have their wrinkles treated using Dysport. Many patients schedule two or three appointments each year to retain results. 

How Long Does It Take Dysport to Work? 

The amount of time that it takes to experience the full results from Dysport will vary from patient to patient. However, during trials most patients saw results beginning at just 2-3 days, with full results appearing within 3 weeks.
